Devin Jones and Jason Rabe Set to Pilot the Bodymotion Porsche Cayman
Bodymotion Racing returns in 2016 to enter a Porsche Cayman in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge Street Tuner (ST) class for a full season effort.
Returning driver Jason Rabe will be joined by team newcomer Devin Jones, starting at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 test at Daytona International Speedway which takes place on Jan. 8-10.
Rabe impressed last season in Bodymotion’s Cayman, running competitive throughout the season. The former F2000 Championship Series Driver has showed speed in many forms of racing including a successful open-wheel resume. His versatile experience translated to sports car racing last season, scoring multiple top-10 finishes through the year.
"I’m so excited to be back with the Bodymotion Racing team with the same help and support from Delaware Investments, a Macquarie Group and Monticello Motor Club for 2016,” said Rabe. Especially after some solid results, performances, and a 6th place in the ST driver’s points championship in my first full season of racing. Last year was a real learning experience for me and the team. A lot of the tracks I've never driven before, after moving over to sports car racing from formula car racing. With that experience now behind us, I think we can really excel, push forward and show even better results in 2016."
Devin Jones comes to the team with a successful background in stock car racing and NASCAR. Jones made a splash into the sports car racing world last season, winning the pole and setting a new track record at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in only his second IMSA CTSC start. A proven winner in stock car racing, Jones showed great speed and consistency in the Mazda MX-5 Cup and selected starts in IMSA CTSC last season.
“I couldn’t be more pleased to join Bodymotion Racing for the 2016 season,” said Jones. “I believe with the talent on this team we will be able to produce great results throughout the year starting at Daytona. Having the support from VeriStor this season is tremendous, I plan to award them with some podium finishes that this team is very capable of attaining. After making select starts last season in IMSA CTSC I’m confident in making the jump into a full-season after gaining experience in this style of racing.”
A very promising season is set to be in store for the Bodymotion Racing team after many improvements during the off-season.
“We are excited to get back to the track after a brief and hectic off season,” said Geoff Abel, Competition Director for Bodymotion. “Being able to bring another fresh young driver into our ST program for 2016 is great to see. Team owner Mike Bavaro and myself are looking forward to seeing our new GS car get up to speed and finally having a chance to work with the talented Devin Jones. We have put a tremendous amount of work into the ST car and expect good things from our young driver lineup this year. Having a full season of notes to look back on should help us contend for podiums and wins this year. A top three championship finish is my goal for our ST program.”
Bodymotion Racing will take part in the Roar Before the 24 at Daytona International Speedway next weekend. Rabe and Jones in the #31 Porsche Cayman ST will join Bodymotion Racing teammates Cameron Cassels and Rene Villeneuve who will be running the #12 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport in the CTSC Grand Sport (GS) class throughout the season.
