Devin Jones completed his second race weekend in the Skip Barber F2000 series by claiming two podium spots at the 2.21 mile Homestead-Miami Speedway during the Southern Regional Championship series’ third stop this past weekend.

After qualifying in third Saturday in the rain, Jones completed a tight race one in the third spot. He quickly gained more experience with the heavy drafting conditions on the fast, embanked track – which uses ¾ of the full Homestead-Miami Speedway oval mixed with a technical infield road course – and put his new-found knowledge to immediate use during race two on Sunday.

Early in the second race, Jones and two other weekend-winning drivers made an early breakaway and diced it up using the draft to leapfrog one another throughout the entire race. On the final lap, Jones make a break for first coming out of the final road course turn eight. He held onto the lead until just inches before the checkered when one of the other lead pack drivers had just enough draft to catch him by only .035 seconds.

“It was a fantastic weekend of racing,” said Jones. “This is my second race weekend with the Skip Barber F2000 series and I am enjoying being back on a road course. For the Homestead-Miami track, where you use so much of the big embanked track, I found that my oval racing experience really helped me a great deal. I am looking forward to running a full campaign in their BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda series with the slick tires. We demonstrated this weekend that we have a very good shot at winning against some of the more experienced drivers in the series.”

In addition to running the BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda series, Jones will be running selected Skip Barber Summer Series races along with high-profile races in his Super Late Model stock car. His first race in the stock car will be with the PASS South opener at Anderson Motor Speedway, March 12, 2011. For more information, please visit www.devinjonesracing.com.
