Jones and Young's Motorsports Earn "Cool Move of the Race" Award

Just a week after Devin Jones’ NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut at Martinsville Speedway, he was back behind the wheel of the #35 VeriStor Late Model at historic Rockingham Speedway.

Jones and the Young’s Motorsports team rallied after discovering a broken sway bar mount in practice to finish 8th after starting from the 13th position. Jones’ efforts earned him the  FLUIDYNE Cool Move of the Race award.

During Friday practice, Jones showed some speed right off the trailer, but as practice continued Jones felt the car becoming less comfortable. After a series of unsuccessful changes, the team found the problem with just minutes remaining in the final practice.

“When we first went out the car felt very drivable and consistent, then out of nowhere the car began acting very unstable and we had a hard time getting a handle on what the problem was,” said Jones. “It turns out we had broken the sway bar mount sometime during the final practice session. After David and the guys found the problem I felt confident in our setup going into raceday.”

With the problem fixed, Jones and the team were set for qualifying. Jones would turn the 13th quickest time around the one-mile oval.

During the 75-Lap UARA-STARS Event, Jones methodically worked his way through the field, while still his saving tires for late in the going. Jones made a three-wide pass during a restart late in the race, which would later earn him the “Move of The Race” award. After a hard fought battle Jones would drive the #35 VeriStor machine to an 8th place finish, his third top-10 in the first three UARA-STARS races.

“We had a good handling car during the race, but we could only run well on the bottom,” said Jones. “I searched around the track and tried some different lines, but with our package we would run faster right on the yellow line. The Young’s Motorsports team with David King and the guys have been working hard on our VeriStor machine, I have to thank them for all the effort they put in. I’d also like to thank HJC Motorsports for their support.”

Jones is looking forward to the rest of the UARA-STARS season.

“We have some great tracks coming up, ones that I have ran well on in the past,” said Jones. “I’m really looking forward to the next stretch of races in the series. I would also like to thank VeriStor for their continued support. This is their one-year anniversary supporting our team and we are looking forward to the rest of our year together.”

Jones’ next event will be at Dillon Motor Speedway in South Carolina for round four of the UARA-STARS season on Saturday, May 18th.
